This project is a garden designed for the "silver generation" aged 50 and above, aiming to create a vibrant outdoor space within an L-shaped courtyard that connects a senior apartment and a community center. At the heart of the design is a winding jogging/walking path that runs through the courtyard, providing a safe and convenient exercise route. The custom metal railings along the path serve a dual purpose: providing support for those in need and also incorporating elements for physical activities such as stretching or light resistance exercises, enhancing overall fitness opportunities within the space. The gravel seating area provides seniors with a safe and effective way to get the exercise they need to stay healthy. The uneven surface of the gravel helps to improve balance and coordination, while walking on gravel helps to strengthen leg muscles. In addition to the physical benefits, time spent in nature has been proven to have positive effects on mental health, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

Throughout the courtyard, therapeutic horticultural plants are planted around the pathway. These plants are carefully selected to provide visual interest, texture, and fragrance, offering users different sensory stimuli through out the year. In the center of the courtyard is a greenhouse, serving as the focal point for community agriculture activities. This feature not only encourages residents to engage in gardening activities but also promotes community awareness and a sense of shared responsibility.

By using thoughtful design elements and incorporating therapeutic horticultural features, this garden provides a holistic approach to promoting physical activity, mental well-being, and community engagement among seniors, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.
