90 Sands Plaza is located at 90 Sands St, Brooklyn, New York. The Plaza renovates an existing on-structure POPS(Privately Owned Public Space) plaza, opening the previously fenced-in plaza to the public and the street. The plaza underwent renovation concurrently with the building’s transformation into affordable housing. Ample seating, nestled amongst lush native planting, brings life to this Dumbo street corner while providing outdoor space for residents of the building. A mixture of built-in and movable furniture offers residents a high degree of flexibility in using their outdoor space. The plaza spans multiple levels to navigate the natural slope of the site and to ensure that the plaza and building are universally accessible throughout the site. Connections between the levels and the street allow continuous circulation through the site.
