Drawing inspiration from daily lifestyle

This residence project is located in Seaward Sunshine, Shantou, China. The residence occupies 240 square meters. The designers transformed its original layout (with two halls and five rooms) into a spatial pattern consisting of four halls and four rooms. The goal of design was to create a clean and simple, multifunctional living space and to create an aesthetics of fashion life.

The parlor connects the family hall and the water bar, presenting a freely arranged space. The mix and match of modern sofas, traditional cabinet and old Indonesian teak stools brings a vivid and fun ambience.

The water bar serves as a connector between the parlor and banquet hall, serving drinks and tea for both spaces. The washing sink set in this area helps the family to foster good hygiene habits.

The banquet hall, which links the parlor and kitchen, is fully decorated with books, ornaments and traditional Chaoshan-style wooden lion artworks, used as a place for both family dinner and feast.

The side hall connects the kitchen, guest bedroom and balcony, and also satisfy the need of quick breakfast and other basic daily demands. Being placed within the kitchen, the side hall, together with the guest bedroom and balcony, forms another independent living area for the household.

The most special design feature of the kitchen space is that besides connecting the banquet and side hall, it also embraces the guest bedroom, bathroom and balcony, in order to form an independent living quarter.

The master room is clean and bathroom is divided into five sections: bathtub, toilet, dry sauna area, washing area and shower, with each performing their respective functions and is extremely efficient.

Through drawing inspiration from daily lifestyle, the project releases space volume to its greatest extent, separates different living areas, and refined human-friendly spaces in a meticulous way.
