This is a combined workshop and store that produces Chinese confectionery.
Although the store is located in Tokyo, it is slightly detached from the hustle and bustle of the city. We have created an environment that harmonizes modern Japanese-style China, and a gentle space that appeals to the senses of sight, touch, and smell in a special flat shape without any rectangles.
After tea leaves are dried and crushed, they are mixed into plastering materials instead of aggregate. Even after being mixed in, it still has an aroma, and a slight color is extracted, which also appears in the texture.
Another existing store discards about 600 kg of used tea leaves per year.
It cannot be served to customers again, but it still has enough aroma and “consciousness” left in it.
Used tea leaves is mixed into plastering materials instead of aggregate. Even after being mixed in, it still has an aroma, and a slight color is extracted, which also appears in the texture.
Of course, we will not be able to reuse or upcycle all of these materials in this project, Not only will this project appeal to the senses of touch and smell, but it will also raise awareness of sustainability at the same time.
