"Mayday Fly to 2022" was a poignant tour by Mayday amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Originating from Taiwan's first no-audience online concert, "Mayday Live in the Sky," the tour's opening video begins in a small rehearsal room, transitions to an empty Taipei Stadium, and culminates in a concert with a live audience. This progression symbolizes the world gradually returning to normal after a temporary shutdown due to the pandemic.
Unlike their previous extravagant setups, this tour focused on pure imagery to convey genuine human emotions, emphasizing a people-centric approach. Visual concepts tackled global environmental issues, pandemic-induced social turmoil, everyday life, and reflections on human relationships. The performances aimed to inspire with the message "Stay brave, your breakthrough is near," allowing audiences to empathize and release pent-up emotions, thereby creating positive social value.
Through powerful visuals and heartfelt performances, Mayday deeply connected with their audience, offering comfort and hope during challenging times. The tour stood out not only for its artistic achievements but also for its emotional and social impact, reminding everyone of human resilience, unity, and the importance of understanding in overcoming adversity.
The concert prominently featured six classic songs: "Perfume," "Embrace," "World Crazy," "Braveness & Breakthrough Day," "Because of You," and "Life Has a Kind of Certainty," each depicting various aspects of society during the pandemic.
"Perfume" showcased global landmarks in muted tones, reflecting pandemic lockdowns. "Embrace" depicted deserted natural landscapes, symbolizing environmental benefits from reduced human activity. "World Crazy" used news imagery to highlight societal unrest. "Braveness & Breakthrough Day" focused on everyday heroes, encouraging perseverance and hope. "Because of You" explored interconnectedness despite physical distance. "Life Has a Kind of Certainty" used hands to symbolize life stages and commitments, emphasizing the enduring power of hope and love.
In essence, "Mayday Fly to 2022" transcended a mere concert experience, becoming a profound reflection on human experience and resilience, resonating deeply with audiences worldwide.
