Jingyu Residence: Catering to Genuine Needs

Located in Chongqing, the Jingyu project is a newly renovated home designed around the daily routines and aspirations of a family of three. The design eschews elaborate styles and artistic techniques, instead focusing on closely analyzing the occupants’ living habits to create a space that truly aligns with their real-life needs.



Both homeowners are university music professors with a young child. Despite a limited budget, they desired a multifunctional room that serves as both a study and a music room, an expanded bathroom, an additional walk-in closet, and an enlarged living area by incorporating the balcony.



First, the designer removed the front wall of the fully enclosed utility room on the left side of the entrance, replacing it with solid glass bricks. This area was then merged with the multifunctional room, addressing its privacy needs while improving the lighting in the entrance area. Secondly, the master bathroom was extended into the corridor of the children’s room, expanding its size and optimizing the corridor layout. The exterior balcony was connected to the living room with a curved extension, balancing the height differences inside and outside.



To create a warm and safe environment for the family, the designer used soft, warm colors throughout the space. The flooring is made from renewable wood, ensuring a consistent temperature year-round. The soft furnishings were chosen in gentle hues to convey a sense of softness, comfort, and security. Additionally, a fresh air system was installed to improve indoor air quality.



Jingyu’s design focuses on details, aligning closely with the genuine needs of its occupants. It achieves a perfect blend of functionality and aesthetics, providing a warm, safe, and comfortable home environment.
