The Comprehensive Service Pavilion houses the main entrance of the “2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Exposition” as well as the ticketing office and tourism center. It consists of two main buildings (Pavilion A & Pavilion B) and three mega landscape canopies, these five distinctive structures create together a stunning and unique main gate of the Expo's Park.
The main design, which combines functionality, regional culture, modernism, and the subject and values of the Expo, is influenced by "Han Que" culture—a traditional Chinese ceremonial gate tower—and derived from the shape of the Hibiscus flower, which is the most native flower of Chengdu.
The design blends its shape with the entire park's design language, flowing organically into the landscape of the main square. The Pavilion and its three mega canopies, with their twisted and tensile constructions, will address Chengdu's Eastern New District's new landmark and sense of arrival. Efficiency, functionality, sustainability, and suitability are given top priority in the entire design. Moreover, the Comprehensive Service Pavilion will function as a community hub providing open areas for recreation and business services to the public beyond the Expo, enriching the urban public realm with additional functionalities.
The Comprehensive Service Pavilion, the new icon of Chengdu's Eastern New District, redefines conventional entrance gateways with its elegant and contemporary design and represents innovation, locality, and cultural significance.
