With a gentle push of the door, a serene ambiance of dark hues envelops the senses, offering a haven of tranquility to the weary. As one steps inside and pauses to appreciate the surroundings, indirect lighting gracefully cascades from the faceted ceiling. This illumination reflects off stainless steel surfaces and metallic mineral-coated cabinets, harmonizing with the rugged textures of the stone walls and wood-patterned flooring. The result is an unpressured atmosphere reminiscent of sunlight filtering through a forest, merging sleek sophistication with the grounding presence of natural elements, thus creating a harmonious and comforting abode for its inhabitants.
This project elegantly embraces the owner’s preference for a deep color palette as the foundational tone of the space. Through the artful use of paint, ironwork, stone, and wood, an exquisite and layered visual experience is crafted, achieving a unified yet intricate aesthetic. The precise detailing at the junctions of different materials and the parallel floor grooves echoes the owner’s meticulous attention to refined craftsmanship. Furthermore, the project employs natural, non-toxic building materials to ensure a safe and healthy living environment. Notably, the stone elements for the TV wall and corridor are sustainably sourced from marble offcuts, reflecting a commendable commitment to environmental responsibility.
Designers derived inspiration from quick drafts to conceive design and material selection for this project. Employing a variety of paints as a canvas, they artfully integrated textured stone veneers and wood grains to emulate the raw strokes of pencil sketches. The light-reflective qualities of stainless steel further heightened the crisp visual impact reminiscent of the gentle blur of an eraser. Crossing the threshold into the home evokes the sensation of entering a monochromatic landscape painting, introducing a distinctive artistic ambiance and a feeling of cozy, sophisticated living.
Considering the limited natural light in shared areas, the designer strategically incorporated folded paper forms into the ceiling design, allowing light to refract through multiple layers before gently illuminating the space. This technique creates a hazy morning sunlight effect that enhances the space.
