In the woven tapestry of time, Ningbo, the "Water Town" rich in cultural heritage, unveils its unique charm. Every intricate detail of the site becomes a poetic embellishment, blending historical imprints with artistic strokes to create a welcoming ambience. Our design concept, "Living by the Water," integrates the cultural texture of the water town with the lifestyle of residing near water. By employing modern compositional techniques, the design extends the poetic imagery of the water town, shaping a riverside resort within the urban CBD of the Yongxin River. Through the construction of various scenes, the design aims to evoke a unique emotional resonance in each space, embracing visitors with a refined and understated elegance that echoes a simpler way of life. People should live closer to nature, as plants are drawn to the light, luxuriously and poetically. Just as trees and water systems form the backbone of the landscape, ancient trees tell stories of history, and waterfalls sing the ballads of time. Water serves as the guiding element, connecting three courtyards that borrow views from each other, with light and shadow-filled corridors linking the surroundings, creating a grand layout where one can stroll leisurely in any weather.

The project’s design is inspired by the natural and cultural context of Ningbo, with a focus on integrating landscape and architecture. The main entrance is defined by a central jade stone platform surrounded by lush greenery and a century-old red-fruited holly tree, symbolizing life and energy in an urban setting. The project incorporates traditional craftsmanship from the Ningbo bamboo weaving technique into the ground paving, creating a unique visual identity. Through the lobby into the water axis is a tree in the water, giving a serene and poetic experience. The interplay of light and shadow, along with the reflection of the water, provides a serene atmosphere where one can pause and connect with the simplicity and beauty of the surroundings. The design of the corridors emphasizes the elegance of space, light, and structure, creating a luxurious yet understated ambience that resonates with the poetic spirit of the water town.
