DANCE

The public artwork "DANCE" is located in Foshan THE PEARL ON THE CROWN, in the downtown center of Foshan city.
Inspired by Cantonese Opera, the essence of Lingnan culture, the artist Alvin Zhang created the theme of "Dreaming in the Garden". The stage layout of which was built by combining the water screen and the of the corridor spaces, to portray a dancer performing in a white dress: DANCE. It catches the moment when the dancer's upward gesture and contact the flowing water, symbolizing the eternal flow and power of life. Each layered pattern seems to narrate the moment when each piece of the dancers' dress moves, recreating the exciting beauty of the performance. Viewers can not only feel the fluidity and vitality, but also experience a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity.
By combining the space and the theme of "Dreaming in the Garden", the artist links up multiple spatial scenarios, fuses the rhythm and cadence of art into the image of the "dancer", and injects the shaping of "form" into the core of the work. The spatial layout is particularly elegant as it is complemented by the scenery: the scenery is introduced into the room, and light filters through, creating a dynamic interplay between the internal and external spaces.
“DANCE” imparts a fluid language to the space, forming a context that breeds reality and imagination, which is the vein connects to the Cantonese Opera that embraces everything. That allows the grand view of "in the evening the red boats berthed in the sand, with thousands of people watching opera" in Qionghua Guild to be vividly recreated. Yi yi yaya, singing on the stage; Ai ai ho ho, echoed off stage. Cantonese rhythms hover in the ears. This scene triggers the infinite imagination of life.
The artist demonstrates the dimension of life by converging the original vitality with the shape pointing to the sky; and injects the tolerance attitude of life by recalling the free-growing curve of the work with the upward shape.
