Louis Castle Sycamore Hotel Chengdu

Modeled after the iconic Palace of Fontainebleau, one of the masterpieces of French classical architecture, the project took a decade of meticulous craftsmanship to honor history and recreate aesthetics. Within the classical French formalism of the existing architecture, the interior design engages in a dialogue between modern aesthetics and classical elements. Through the use of natural light and shadow, concise lines, and bold colors, different cultural and fashionable attitudes from various eras converge in this space. Utilizing a unique design language, we present a complex and versatile lifestyle, showcasing our design thinking for this environment.

The use of simplified architectural lines and minimalistic decor in the space expresses a pure and unique design aesthetic, creating a comfortable and pleasant ambience. The space is dominated by refined white and noble black as the main colors, with the use of bright red lacquer materials adding a touch of humanity and ease to the space, integrating contemporary art into accessories, wall hangings, and furniture details throughout the space. Vintage mosaic floors paired with black and white striped modern screens create strong visual symbols within the space.

In the dining room, the play of light and shadow extends subtly as reflections from glass surfaces scatter across the room, emphasizing an open kitchen and dining area that maximizes the entry of natural light, creating a dynamic and transparent space.

In the guest room, the romantic features of French-style architecture are prominently displayed. The room design revolves around the core element of French architecture—the arched doorway. By incorporating the natural aesthetics of the building itself, multiple spaces and rich visuals are created.The top structure features a distinctive arched artistic ceiling, with curves and straight lines continuing the architectural character to express the space's ambiance. The blending of Eastern and Western traditional elements with modern aesthetics results in a refined and fashionable design. The arches, echoing the original architecture, are complemented by stately wooden elements, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere naturally.
