The Joy of Family Home is where the heart is, and family is at the heart of this homeowner. As head of a family business, this homeowner wanted a home design to allow and encourage interaction and bonding between relatives and friends. He wanted a space where everyone could gather together, socialize, and be one, big, happy family. The home was designed with a focus on the communal areas where the family gathers. The main living room area, reading room, day room, open concept kitchen, and adjacent dining room are all areas where family members gather. Meanwhile, the hallway leading to the bedrooms are ensconced behind a unique curved door, offering ample private space for each family member to retreat or have a moment of solitude. Various building materials and coloring techniques are utilized to create a modern design with continuous flow and warm ambience throughout the entire residence. Considering Chinese “Feng shui” in the design, the common areas are wrapped around the vast terrace which bridges the inside and outside to extend the space and provide a circular flow of air. It exudes the warmth of wood, from the terrace and continuing within the house, reinforced by wood touches in the wall paneling and ceiling of the living room. A beautiful, marble TV wall stands out, surrounded by vividly colorful furniture and stylish lamps, which provide a sense of warmth and liveliness. The dining room features a circular, marble table and an open concept kitchen with an adjacent countertop island set upon dark flooring, which contrast with the white kitchen cabinets. An overhead, grille design adds style and distinguishes the dining area from the other communal areas. Throughout the residence, wood and marble play off one another, and splashes of color in furniture and accessories are interspersed with the coolness of marble and the warmth of wood to conduct the flow of modern stylishness.
