Radisson Collection Lingang Shanghai, situated in the newly developed Lingang area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, stands as an iconic luxury accommodation facility. Its interior design concept seamlessly combines modern simplicity with traditional aesthetics. Science, culture, and art are fit well to the design, and every corner features various intangible cultural heritage artworks, which is supposed to be the most notable highlight of the design, as well as a critical component of the interior design concept. The broad space of the lobby is an ideal venue for showing these artistic elements, with the art installation titled “Boating in Clouds” standing in the visual center. This installation comprises two components, a delicate cloud lamp and a suspended boat sculpture, both of which imply the grandeur and elevation of the lobby space. The cloud lamp is crafted with architectural techniques to capture the lightness and change of clouds, transforming into luminaires with flowing lines and elegant form, which makes the space more dynamic and fosters interaction with the surroundings. The boat sculpture on top merges the shapes of boat and Qin (Chinese musical instrument). It looks like a boat and implies the Qin sounds, symbolizing human intellect and the fusion of tangible and intangible aspirations. Extending to the guest rooms and public areas, sculptures, artworks, and murals, each presenting distinct styles, materials, and expressions, are thoughtfully positioned to foster a cohesive and distinctive atmosphere. These artworks not only accentuate the individuality of the space but also reflect the immense cultural legacy and fundamental principles. The interior design exemplifies a refined and graceful lifestyle. Blending modern design principles with traditional cultural elements contributes to a luxurious hotel ambiance benchmarked with international standards, filled with oriental appeal. This design not only elevates the brand identity but also offers guests an extraordinary experience during their stay.
