Qingdao International Cruise Port Training Base (031 Site)

Located in the heart of Qingdao’s International Cruise Port, the Training Base occupies a prime site of approximately 17,000 square meters, bordered by Gangji Road to the north, Gangtong Road to the west, and Tieshan Road to the east. The development will feature a multi-level coastal landmark focused on cultural facilities and educational research, with a total above-ground construction area of around 34,000 square meters.

The architectural design of the Training Base extends the wave-like terraced concept from the overall urban design by renowned architect Wu Zhiqiang. Its undulating façade creates a harmonious horizontal stretch, emphasizing contrast with neighboring high-rise buildings while fostering a dynamic coastal environment. This interplay of heights and openness establishes a new modern coastal identity for the district.

The ground floor will primarily house cultural facilities, while floors two through four will focus on educational research. Notably, a two-story multifunctional hall will be featured on the east side of the third and fourth floors, providing a versatile space for various activities.

The building’s exterior features a wave-like façade composed of horizontal flowing lines, reminiscent of rising ocean waves. The lightweight, fluid appearance is achieved using a combination of double-layered, hollow LOW-E glass curtain walls (ultra-clear glass), silver-gray aluminum panels, dark-gray aluminum profiles, and light-gray aluminum grilles. The attention to detail is evident in the use of perforated aluminum panels for horizontal lines, simulating the gentle rise and fall of waves. This design reflects Qingdao’s rich maritime culture and the unique coastal location of the project.

Upon completion, the Qingdao International Cruise Port Training Base will significantly enhance the city’s image, contribute to the economic growth of the port area, and support the region’s transformation and development.
