My design idea is inspired by the indeterminacy principle which says: the only certainty is uncertainty and there is no absolute truth and no assurance in this world.
This ring has been designed as a moving and varied piece. Incorporating two opposite colors (there is a potential and great energy in contrast) and the movability of five parts of the ring, results in 25 different models of one single piece of jewelry depending on its position on the fingers and different hand gestures. the user will in fact own several models of a ring by having one piece.
The user at first does not notice the ring’s unfixed shape but everything is relative, the completely black piece can be totally white or it might become a blend of the two in different angles. As soon as it’s worn, the user realizes there is no certainty and that is the very concept of uncertain certainty.
The objective of designing this piece was to question the absolute truth in a piece of jewelry that has been presented mostly in one form and this deconstruction turns the art of design to an amusing game and a wonderful experiment.
3 Dimensional printers are used in making of this ring and the materials applied in my jewelry design is silver with black &white rhodium plated, black onyx and white topaz gemstones.
