This project aims to redesign a Dyson bladeless fan focusing on decreasing the size of the product, changing the product from
taking up a great amount of space from floor into a table-top fan. The redesigned product achieves a significantly decreased
size mainly due to the redesigned turbine mechanisms that enable it to be more compact, granting it a shaft in a simpler form.
By introducing this new design which have better mobility, compactness, and cost, the project seeks to increase the interest in
household appliance players, contributing to a new approach in making your living space more confortable. Geometry, simplicity, seamless airflow, this is what sets bladeless fans apart from conventional ones. In the ideation phase, I created a device thinking to redesign the Dyson products with even simpler geometry, smaller in size, more affordable, and more accessible. The redesign managed to bring itself closer to the user by changing itself from a floor standing fan into a tabletop fan due to its decreased size. Instead of using traditional fan blades, it uses an air compressor for power which is hidden inside.
The unique shape of the fan head can blow out 15 times more air than it sucked in because of Bernoulli’s principle, an increase of fluid’s speed occurs simultaneously by a decrease of pressure.
Just like the shape of an airplane’s wing, the curvatures of the fan head forms a low pressure zone that attracts more air from the environment, the air blew out form the fan is indicated with blue and the air being attracted from the environment is indicated with red.
