Scientists have long monitored pressing issues such as climate change, global warming, species extinction, and epidemic diseases. Ongoing research provides fresh evidence that underscores the need for new perspectives and strategies to safeguard the Earth as a sustainable home for humanity. Artists and designers, in turn, offer their reflections on science, technology, and society through creative expression.
Created in partnership with the National Taiwan Science Education Center, our special exhibition “School of the End of the World” brings together six artists and designers from diverse backgrounds who will share their creative works and the knowledge and inspiration behind them. The exhibition space will be transformed into six research laboratories, each overseen by one of the creators. Engaging hands-on workshops and multimedia interaction enable thought-provoking contemporary issues to take on new life. Visitors explore different paths of thinking, and scientific fact and science fiction interweave, sparking a rich dialogue between art and science.
The exhibition features three key elements to guide the visitor experience: Doors, Windows, and Stairs. Visitors follow these markers on their journey. “Doors” lead into a science fiction realm showcasing artistic creations. “Windows” reveal scientific perspectives and methodologies for problem-solving. And “Stairs” invite visitors to experience cross-disciplinary interactions where art meets science. On this carefully crafted journey, each visitor will build their own unique vision of the School of the End of the World.
