Library of Nanya Middle School, Changsha City

This project is to build a new library for Nanya Middle School, located in the entrance area of the campus, cleverly utilizing the sloping terrain to create a unique image of "elegant charm of the book mountain". The library adopts a three-level terrace design, with a curved outer corridor seamlessly integrated with the surrounding environment, creating an open and hidden space on the slope. The internal space of the library is fluid and functionally complex, providing diverse activity spaces and promoting communication between teachers and students. At the same time, the design focuses on natural disappearance, using techniques such as stacking and shifting blocks to integrate the building with the environment, creating a roaming experience of "forest in its surroundings". In terms of green and low-carbon, a passive priority and active optimization strategy is adopted to set up ventilation ducts, eaves, inner courtyards, light pipes, etc., improve the ventilation status, and achieve efficient lighting; The support is detached from the outer wall of the building, and the bottom layer of the building is partially elevated, which is conducive to slope drainage and can prevent water seepage and moisture in the building, demonstrating the design concept of sustainable development.

Although this building hidden in the hillside is not large, in just one year, it has opened academic salons, held art exhibitions, held concerts, and hosted children's unique joy. When the children leave one day and think of this place, it may be becomes the warmest moment in the future memory of teachers and students.
