In Chinese culture, twelve Zodiac animals rotate to represent each year in the lunisolar calendar. For the 2020 lantern festival, Rat is the Zodiac animal to celebrate. Light and shadow- the two essential elements in a lantern, kindle the universally shared experience of a child’s play in the discovery and exploration of light and shadow. With Ximending district’s unique pedestrian flow strategically integrated into our design, we injected a dose of magic into the street lights and created "Mouse Light Fun"! Passerby surprised to find themselves turned into a mouse by their shadows upon the lights, shifting the typical lantern viewing mode to joyfully engaging in a play with the shadow. Under the light, everyone was once again, the child that dances to his or her own shadow. Rewriting a fresh pedestrian space experience.
