Globally, approximately 10 to 15 per cent of the population experiences swallowing difficulties. These individuals face challenges in consuming food adequately, resulting in the loss of taste, smell, and tactile sensations associated with dining. Such impairments can lead to emotional distress, psychological challenges, and additional complications. In light of this context, Taste Reverie aims to assist patients in regaining the ability to eat through innovative virtual reality and multi-sensory technology.

Taste Reverie transcends the constraints of conventional mono-physiological treatments by delivering a comprehensive and immersive dining experience that significantly enhances both realism and comfort. The system comprises a scent generator, virtual reality glasses, and haptic gloves, allowing users to virtually engage with the aroma, texture, and visual presentation of food. Furthermore, its modular design enables patients to utilize the device independently or with other components, accommodating diverse treatment scenarios and individual needs. Moreover, Taste Reverie offers users customized virtual dining environments, allowing them to select from various restaurant settings or family gatherings. This feature alleviates the sense of isolation often experienced due to an inability to engage in social dining activities, enabling users to enjoy eating while simultaneously fostering social inclusion, improving mood, and bolstering confidence in their treatment journey.

Notably, the product design meticulously addresses patients' physical and psychological needs, employing ergonomic principles to ensure a comfortable user experience. The headgear has been designed to conform precisely to the contours of the human head, thereby minimizing discomfort during extended use. The nasal fixture is also constructed from flexible materials and incorporates a magnetic adjustment mechanism to guarantee stability and comfort throughout usage.
