The architectural design aesthetic for the Fitness areas is showcasing wood and other natural materials typical of Costa Rica in clean, modern methods. The lighting aesthetic was illuminating very expansive spaces with minimal lighting noise. Intricate trim pieces were carefully integrated into mirrors, transoms and soffits to accommodate warm-dim linear sources to uplight the natural ceiling materials and provide indirect lighting for the spaces. Linear glowing warm-dim LED pendants were specified at the beams in these rooms because the project did not think the perimeter uplighting would be sufficient. Ultimately, they were not installed and the client was surprised and satisfied with the levels achieved indirectly. Recessed adjustable accent fixtures were only used in entry spaces and restrooms to highlight display, art and task areas. Timeclock-triggered lighting scenes are calibrated with the time of day and override keypads provide light level access for private guests.
