Given the pressing environmental issue of waste tire pollution and the lack of toys and sports equipment for children in many parts of Africa, this design introduces an innovative solution: a toolkit that empowers African children to create their own soccer balls. The materials used in the product are sourced from discarded tires, a common waste problem across the continent, and the design cleverly incorporates the traditional Chinese weaving craftsmanship of Cuju, an ancient form of soccer. This blending of sustainability and cultural heritage offers a creative, hands-on approach to resource recycling.
The toolkit not only addresses the environmental challenge of tire waste but also provides an engaging, educational opportunity for children. By giving them the ability to make their own soccer balls, the design fosters creativity, practical skills, and environmental awareness in a fun, interactive way.
