My creative inspiration stems from a desolate ruin I frequently passed on my way home. This abandoned space evoked both imagination and fear, which became central to my work. I aim to guide viewers in rethinking their perceptions of fear and imagination through shifts in perspective. Narrow spaces, distorted visuals, endlessly extending corridors, and dark voids—these spatial elements do not frighten me through their physicality but through the oppressive atmosphere and intangible emotions they convey. They challenge our understanding of the unknown.

Building on this concept, I developed a series of three devices, each offering viewers a distinct way to engage with spatial imagery. These experimental interfaces abstract my sensory and emotional experiences, inviting the audience to explore the world through perspectives that once evoked my own fears. The devices act as tools for perception, transforming individual fears into a shared emotional and psychological exploration.

The way we perceive space significantly shapes our emotional responses. Confining spaces with limited fields of view can evoke feelings of oppression, anxiety, and claustrophobia, while exaggerated distortions—such as those created by a fisheye lens—intensify unease, rendering spaces strange and unsettling. Additionally, subtle details, like cracks in walls or shadowy outlines, trigger curiosity and fear, encouraging viewers to confront the unknown. These intricate details immerse the audience further, stimulating both imagination and emotion.

Through these devices, space becomes more than a physical environment; it transforms into a narrative medium, guiding viewers on a psychological journey of fear, discovery, and reflection. By leveraging perspectives that once stirred my own fears, I seek to create a dialogue on how spatial perception influences emotions, bridging personal experiences with collective understanding of the unfamiliar.
