The East Bund

The East Bund is an ultra-low energy consumption residence project in Shanghai, whose energy-saving indicators represent the highest level of energy efficiency currently available. The project's design employs a series of active and passive technological measures, effectively isolating the impact of outdoor temperature changes on the interior.

The project site is an inverted trapezoid, a central garden layout is applied to promote interaction between residents and the natural environment. Some 140㎡ large living units are located along the river landscape belt, while some other smaller living units are situated on the east side, enjoying tranquility and peace.

The main entrance of the community features a refined entrance canopy, a sunken courtyard, and an underground lobby, with these three spaces interconnected to enhance the sense of quality and ceremony. The landscape design, named as an "Urban Art Gallery," expresses different themes of order, freedom, and romance throughout the community. The extensive use of glass materials diminishes the heaviness of the building's structure, blurring the boundary between the architecture and nature.
