The Nam Van Lake Bus Parking Lot is located in the key transportation area between the Macau Peninsula and Taipa, covering an area of about 30 hectares, surrounded by shopping centers, hotels and tourist attractions, with a high flow of people, and backed up by the Nam Van Lake Eco-Island, which is one of the most important habitats for migratory birds when they stay in Macau. However, there has been no reasonable planning and design for the site, and its long-term use as a bus parking lot has not only caused heavy metal pollution to the land, but also threatened the marine environment as rainwater washes away.

We designed two interlocking corridor bridges to connect the two sites, named “Twin Corridor Bridges”, one is a corridor bridge for people to pass through, and the other provides a passageway for the exchange and migration of animals between the two sites.Biological habitats are created on the animal bridge through catchment water, restoration of natural topography, addition of native plants and installation of stone fallen trees. The bridges also serve as ecological corridors between two isolated ecosystems.

In the construction of ecological strategy, pollution control is carried out through the construction of stepped rainwater and sewage filtration belts and vegetation planting, and then combined with the planning of the site in the “Macau Future Land Use Plan” - the waterfront historical tourism axis, as well as to give full play to its ecological value as a migratory bird habitat. On the one hand, the site will be transformed into an urban public space for science education, leisure and recreation, culture and entertainment for citizens and tourists by combining waterfront tourism and eco-tourism; on the other hand, the site will be a natural shelter in the city, restoring the biological habitats and creating a better habitat for migratory birds. The combination of the two will become an ecological park in the city and reconstruct the connection between human beings, living creatures and nature.
