Baiyun International Airport is an international aviation hub and an important window for the external radiation of China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Adhering to the innovative concept of integrated planning, construction and development of comprehensive transportation hub, the Baiyun Airport Terminal 3 underground comprehensive hub has realized the goal of simultaneous planning, design and construction with the T3 transportation center. The hub is arranged in the space of two floors underground and is constructed by a combination of open cut and shield tunneling. Among them, the first floor is the station hall floor of rail transit, involving arrival hall, waiting hall, departure hall and check-in hall. The second underground floor is the platform floor of rail transit, from north to south, there are Bai-Guangzhou Intercity train yard, Fangcun to Baiyun Airport intercity, Guangzhou-Heyuan high-speed rail, Guangzhou-Zhuhai (Macao) high-speed rail, a total of 6 platforms and 14 lines. The total construction area of the hub is about 170,000 square meters.

This rail transportation adopts the form of waiting halls and departure halls on both sides. Outbound passengers can directly enter the check-in shared hall to handle check-in and baggage consignment business, thereby maximizing the walking distance required for checked baggage. This innovative design allows the rail transit and airport functions to be highly integrated and form an integrated space, thus facilitating seamless transfer between different modes of transport and creating an open and convenient, dynamic and livable hub space with appropriate scale. The project strives to achieve intelligent and intensive high-quality transportation services, build a modern and smart travel service system, reserve the interface for the next generation of technology applications and lead the future development direction of urban transportation.

In the future, the rapid development of Baiyun Airport relies on the synchronous introduction of rail transit, which means that a "national 123 travel traffic circle" will be formed (1-hour commute in the metropolitan area, 2-hour access for the urban agglomeration, and 3-hour coverage for major cities across the country), bringing convenient and smooth passenger intermodal transport and efficient and economical cargo intermodal transport.
