The Golden Sand Waterfront Masterplan transforms Lignano Sabbiadoro’s coastline into a world-class destination, where tourism, culture, and ecology converge to create an immersive and unforgettable experience. Rooted in sustainability and accessibility, the design reimagines the waterfront as an urban theater, where visitors engage with nature and heritage through performances, exhibitions, and ecological encounters.

Nestled between golden beaches, lush pine forests, and a protected ecological zone, the waterfront offers a dynamic interplay between land and water, leisure and adventure, history and modernity. A network of elevated pathways, tidal theaters, and panoramic bike trails weaves through the landscape, guiding visitors through a multi-sensory journey. Along the way, they can explore cultural installations at UNICEF Park, where flexible structures host music festivals, art exhibitions, and community gatherings. The nearby Passo Barca offers a more intimate experience, where a tidal theater brings performances to life on the water’s edge, embracing the seasonal rhythms of the local paddling culture.

Further inland, the Biodiversity Theater unfolds within the salt marshes and pine forests, providing immersive opportunities for birdwatching, meditation, and ecological education while preserving the delicate natural habitat. The Piccinato pedestrian and bike paths act as both ecological corridors and lively gathering spaces, ensuring a seamless and inclusive experience for visitors of all ages. As they journey through the landscape, tourists are invited to pause at rest areas and observation decks, where every turn offers a new perspective on the region’s natural and cultural heritage.

At the heart of the masterplan is a commitment to sustainable mobility, with a well-integrated network of pedestrian, cycling, and water-based routes ensuring that every journey becomes part of the larger narrative. Visitors can move effortlessly through the coastline, discovering hidden gems along Lungomare Riccardo Riva while minimizing environmental impact. Through innovative design, cultural programming, and ecological stewardship, the Golden Sand Waterfront becomes more than a destination—it is a living stage where every visit is an act of discovery, every path a story, and every performance an invitation to connect with the landscape in new and meaningful ways.
