The Waterfall Hotel stands on the north bank of the Jiangxia Lake Waterfall in the Chengdu Expo.

It is derived from the Expo theme of "between mountains and rivers, in the city, people and nature coexist harmoniously".

The design team aims to harmonize the building with its environment and highlight the distinctive regional culture and lifestyle of Chengdu.

To achieve this, a waterfall was selected as the focal point of the concept, and red sandstone was chosen as the main material to shape the 36,000 square meter waterfall hotel.

The first question considered was how to better integrate the Waterfall Hotel, with a total area of approximately 36,000 square meters, into the natural environment of the Expo.

In response to the shape of the waterfall, the building volume is dissolved between the land and the water surface by adopting a sinking treatment method. Engaging in a dialogue with the entire environment, the building is shaped like a stone, and ultimately forms a contrast with the waterfall in the form of three stones and three waterfalls .

The 140 guest rooms of the hotel are stepped down and fallen layer by layer following the terrain, and each room has an open balcony for viewing the waterfall.

Through landscaping treatment, an enclosed layout is created between the hotel and the waterfall, establishing a strong connection.

The GRC material of the hotel's facade is inspired by the red sandstone of the Chengdu in terms of color, texture and quality, allowing the building to blend more naturally into the entire landscape and coexist harmoniously with it.

At this point, the Waterfall Hotel is no longer an independent entity, but has become a part of the entire park's water environment. The hotel is combined with the riverside landscape, Jiangxi River, waterfall, and Jiangxia Lake to form a complete Expo scenic area.
