The 66.1 square meter apartment in Zhubei was designed for a couple cohabiting in a compact space. After understanding the couple’s daily routines and practical needs, the designer anchored the concept in “harmony and functional balance,” transforming a conventional three-bedroom layout into a more flexible configuration with one bedroom and one walk-in closet. Instead of focusing on style for its own sake, the design responds to the couple’s living rhythm, carefully integrating storage, circulation, and lighting. A palette of soft beige, reminiscent of sunlight, defines a space where subtle rationality meets emotional warmth.
The first highlight lies in the smart integration and concealment of storage. A triple-function cabinet at the intersection of the entry, living, and kitchen areas accommodates a wardrobe, robot vacuum docking station, and handheld vacuum storage. In the dressing room, tiered arrangements of hanging rods, platforms, and drawers are enhanced by tinted glass and mirrors, introducing both lightness and depth of field.
A second highlight is the living room’s parabolic ceiling design. To resolve the limitations posed by a low existing ceiling, the designer raised the lighting zones with a soft arc that both conceals piping and enhances natural light flow, creating a rare sense of spaciousness and rhythm for a compact residence.
The beauty of the space emerges not from ornamentation but from the thoughtful calibration of proportions, light, and materiality. From the stone base of the TV wall and beige-toned backdrop to the angled flooring at the entry and the luminous dressing room framed by glass, every surface contributes to an environment that feels gentle, cohesive, and fluid.
