In Chinese culture, the apple carries auspicious meanings due to its homophonic association with “Ping'an". which signifies peace and safety. It not only embodies people's beautiful wishes for happiness and well-being but also, with its round shape and vibrant red color, becomes a preferred choice for festival gifts.
Ping'an China is a cultural initiative by China Express Airlines, designed to celebrate the Lunar New Year by promoting local agricultural resources through its aviation network. This project brings together premium apples from six renowned regions, including Xinjiang, Gansu, and Shaanxi, and integrates traditional lacquerware craftsmanship with modern metal embossing techniques, infusing festive sentiments and Eastern aesthetics into the design. Presented in exquisite packaging, these apples transcend a simple gift, becoming a meaningful conduit for sharing the Chinese way of life and cultural elegance.
This gift box draws inspiration from the design of traditional Chinese lacquered food containers, employing modern techniques to recreate intangible cultural heritage elements, blending classical Chinese aesthetics with contemporary living. The packaging structure utilizes tinplate embossing to replicate the rich texture and intricate patterns of lacquerware, breaking away from conventional paper or plastic packaging norms. It not only enhances the product’s distinctiveness but also infuses it with profound cultural resonance. In the context of festive gifting, it exudes both ceremonial elegance and deep cultural significance.
The canister lid, adorned in vibrant China Red, features an embossed Five Blessings at the Door lotus vine pattern, symbolizing auspiciousness and festivity. The body, set against a serene China Blue backdrop, showcases an embossed Bamboo Shadows by the Window motif, evoking tranquil elegance and the profound essence of Eastern aesthetics.
The product’s overall composition blends cultural symbolism with modern aesthetics, boasting innovative design and meticulous craftsmanship.
