No glare, just the right brightness
The Nesting Plan series is an ongoing large-scale installation project by artist Cheng-tsung Feng, who uses bamboo and timber to construct immersive spaces where humans and nature coexist. Inspired by the structural logic and poetic essence of birds’ nesting behavior, each piece is handwoven and architecturally composed, forming a vessel-like space that invites both pause and passage.
The lighting design follows an “internal glow” approach, with fixtures discreetly embedded within the structure to allow warm light to gently radiate from within. At night, each Nest takes on a distinct luminous presence, enhancing its sculptural quality and material depth while interacting with ambient light and shadows to create a poetic spatial experience.
The lighting strategy emphasizes “low energy, high perception,” using warm white light to accentuate the natural textures of the materials. Even in darkness, the structure maintains a palpable presence, offering visitors a quiet refuge and sense of belonging.
These works are installed across both natural landscapes and urban corners throughout Taiwan, often serving as catalysts for community gathering or cultural events. By integrating architectural lighting language with the structural context of environmental art, the Nest series explores how light can act as a vessel for dwelling, memory, and shared human experience.
