Lighting Up the City’s Memory, Baking the Brand’s Warmth
This lighting renovation project upgrades the façades of Yu Jan Shin’s Jianggong Branch and Taichung Flagship Store—two core locations of the iconic pastry brand rooted in Taichung, Taiwan. The design redefines the nighttime presence of the buildings while forging a poetic link between architecture and Yu Jan Shin’s most famous product: the traditional butter pastry.
Previously, both buildings lacked coherence and clarity after dark. The updated scheme applies 3000K warm white LED fixtures to sculpt the Baroque-style façades—highlighting gable reliefs, decorative trims, and brand signage with layered precision. The light color was deliberately chosen to echo the buttery tone of the pastry crust, allowing the buildings themselves to glow like the product they represent.
With “brand revival” and “nighttime recognition” as core strategies, the design emphasizes low-glare, energy-efficient fixtures with high color rendering. This approach preserves the warmth of stone and metal materials while enhancing both visual comfort and brand recall. Through contrast and multi-angled lighting, the façade’s curves and depth are brought to life, transforming the architecture into a refined visual landmark.
Rather than merely illuminating the storefronts, this project creates a sensory bridge between food culture and urban memory—letting light express the taste, warmth, and legacy of the butter pastry.
