Canaan Winery Wine Shop

Canaan Winery, located in Huailai, Hebei, is a pioneer in China’s premium wine movement. It is the only Chinese winery ever named to The World’s 100 Best Vineyards—and uniquely, has received this honor for two consecutive years (2023 & 2024). This recognition cements its global reputation as a winery rooted in terroir, precision, and innovation.

As long-term brand consultant, taasdesign (策意象永续品牌咨询) has shaped Canaan’s complete brand ecosystem—from identity, wine labels, and packaging to experience design. The Wine Shop represents a vital touchpoint in this system: a space where visual storytelling, materiality, and emotional connection converge.

Designed within a compact footprint, the Wine Shop fulfills dual roles as a curated display and functional storage space. Yet its primary ambition is atmospheric—capturing the beauty of wine and the emotional richness of tasting moments. Warm, elegant wood tones anchor the space, while the ceiling becomes a sculptural statement: hundreds of custom-designed suspended wine-glass lights form a rhythmic, topographic wave, echoing the rolling hills of Huailai.

Above, ripple-textured metal panels reflect a soft, shimmering glow—like light on water—enhancing depth and spatial rhythm. This layered interplay of wood, glass, and metal creates an ambiance that is both refined and immersive.

The lighting installation was the most ambitious challenge, requiring months of prototyping and fine craftsmanship. Its success lies not only in visual impact, but in how it fuses function, symbolism, and brand identity.

More than a retail zone, this Wine Shop is a poetic embodiment of place, product, and philosophy—an experiential lens through which guests encounter a modern, world-class, and unmistakably Chinese winery.
