The MANSION IN THE PARK project is situated in Linping, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, at the southern foothills beside the Shangtang River, enriched by the spiritual charm of mountains and waters.
Drawing from the elegance of Song Dynasty aesthetics, the project embodies the unique temperament of traditional Chinese architecture, capturing a spirit of simplicity and subtlety that emphasizes a harmonious return to nature.
Occupying an area of 41,486 ㎡ with a notably low floor area ratio of 1.2, the development features rare garden apartments and stacked villas.Inspired by Linping Mountain's millennia-old cultural heritage and the shimmering reflections of the Shangtang River, the layout artistically unfolds a landscape scroll of "three entries, two courtyards, and five gardens". The sequential three-entry layout seamlessly integrates traditional ceremonial homecoming rituals and Song Dynasty garden aesthetics, enriching the journey home with profound ceremonial significance .
Architects employed traditional Chinese axial layouts to replicate the essence of ancient landscape paintings. Despite constrained site conditions, they crafted multiple interconnected courtyards, generating a sophisticated atmosphere of artistic living across nine distinct spatial layers. The public space concept of "Two Axes, Nine Scenes, Four Seasons Garden Living" includes a central water axis and a north-south lifestyle axis. At the project's core entrance, landscape strategies highlight "lake adjacency and hidden mountain views", creating an immersive garden experience infused with vitality and aesthetic charm.
The building façades utilize aluminum panels on all four sides combined with low-e glass, reconstructing traditional forms with contemporary materials. The interplay of Hermes grey and Blue-Eyes stone evokes modern elegance, while traditional upturned eaves shimmer with a metallic sheen under sunlight.
The delicate, lightweight metal tile roofing engages in a dialogue of light and shadow with the 5.6-meter-high basement glass façades. This modern interpretation of "steel as structure and light as garment" breathes new life into the flying eaves and bracket sets characteristic of Song Dynasty architecture in the 21st century.
MANSION IN THE PARK, structured around a twelve-courtyard system, epitomizes the ideal urban residential form, perpetuating a thousand-year cultural legacy through sophisticated Song Dynasty-inspired architecture.
