Restoring an old house is not merely an act of repair—it is a gentle reignite of memory. Embossed glass reflects a play of layered light and shadow, while delicate rattan weaves intertwine with the richness of walnut wood. Accents of floral tiles add a gentle vibrancy, composing a space that breathes with cultural nostalgia. The plan is not a retreat into the past, but a soft rebirth of time’s quieter moments. The shared living space for a family of four unfolds along a generous looped circulation, encouraging a natural rhythm to daily life. Custom-wrapped ceiling beams extend the visual lines and soften each corner, creating an atmosphere of calm for residents who spend much of their time at home. Fume-free Italian paint, paired with cypress and teak, safeguards well-being, while the light aroma of essential oils evokes a forest-like stillness—a home thoughtfully crafted for the quiet joy of retirement. This project begins with a home from the past—its structure worn, its spirit intact. To preserve those quiet ties, embossed glass was artfully set into cabinets and screens, recalling the soft details of the original interior. Rattan furniture and floral tile accents bring a gentle sense of age and character. Besides, the owner’s chosen stone-surfaced dining table and walnut chairs bridge old and new, balancing utility with warmth, harmoniously resulting in a homely and comfortable perception. At the heart of the home lies a communal space meant for gathering. Its looped layout guides movement naturally, while the generous spacing between cabinets and the ceiling ensures an airy effect. Rounded beam edges soften each turn, strategically bringing an unimpeded view. The dining area—anchored by a six-seat table and open shelves—welcomes everyday meals and visits from friends, offering a setting where time can linger and connections grow.

With the couple now retired, the home was crafted to support restful days. Italian paint, free of formaldehyde and moisture-resistant, suits Taiwan’s humid climate while maintaining a gentle finish. Solid cypress and teak shelving bring warmth to the touch and a subtle scent of wood to the air.
