The Street Museum-World Cultural Heritage site of Quanzhou, aims to present the culture of the ancient city in a more vivid and memorable way. By using visual guides, we hope to explore new approaches for spreading intangible cultural heritage, thus allowing it to enter daily life and helping to preserve and pass on China’s enduring traditional culture. The Street Museum installations combine round-carved sculptures of ICH processes, work scenes, or products with signage, scattered across 173 streets in the ancient city, bringing Quanzhou’s heritage directly to visitors. The upper part of the installation is interchangeable, allowing for regular updates of ICH content. Each exhibit uses 3D-printed scenes and cultural imagery to vividly present the heritage, making the information more direct and memorable. QR codes enable visitors to quickly access more details and explore the historical context, ensuring effective cultural dissemination. The text on the installation is in Song Typeface, and the side panels feature Song-era wooden movable type, a UNESCO World Heritage project. This traditional printing process, carved from pear or camphor wood, involves 15 steps, including typesetting and manual operation.Building on the Street Museum concept, the design team created various cultural products featuring unique designs. The gold-and-silver calendar showcases the irregular beauty of Quanzhou’s ancient “brick and stone” architecture, which uses locally sourced materials. Additionally, imagery of the city’s architecture, folklore, and landscapes inspired a range of products, including T-shirts, mugs, calendars, and canvas bags, thus enhancing the richness and appeal of information dissemination.
