Bloom Living, completed in Beitun, Taichung in 2023, isn’t simply a residential building; it’s a deliberate ecosystem designed to foster family life and community connection. Developed with the guiding principle of “not building houses, but homes,” this 24-story complex (with 5 basement levels) prioritizes shared experiences and a sense of belonging for its 274 residents.
Responding to the rapidly developing Beitun district, the design moves beyond mere functionality to create spaces that actively encourage interaction. The lobby, intentionally spacious and uncluttered with a high ceiling and calming Lapis Gray stone, offers a welcoming transition from the city, mirroring a hotel-style experience focused on relaxation. This deliberate avoidance of immediate reception desk confrontation fosters a sense of ease and comfort.
The building’s commitment to family extends throughout the communal areas. A vibrant lounge with a fully equipped bar encourages neighborly gatherings, while a dedicated children’s play area, featuring playful curves and carefully selected, certified toys, prioritizes safety and imagination. The innovative design addresses the challenge of high ceilings in children’s spaces by utilizing bold color blocking to create a more intimate and secure environment.
However, Bloom Living truly distinguishes itself through its dedication to sustainability and community engagement. A meticulously organized, 18-category waste sorting system, managed by resident volunteer teams, exemplifies a commitment to environmental responsibility. This isn’t just a functional space; it’s a testament to a shared ethos. Further enhancing this commitment, a rooftop gardening area allows residents to cultivate their own produce, fostering a connection to nature and promoting a sustainable lifestyle.
The design thoughtfully addresses practical considerations, like cleverly concealing structural limitations on the second floor with strategic lighting and playful design elements, transforming a potential drawback into a unique aesthetic feature. Bloom Living isn’t just a building; it’s a thriving community, meticulously designed to nurture happy families and a sustainable future.
