As a flagship rural revitalization initiative under Guangdong Province’s "Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project," the this project redefines countryside tourism with a balance of ecological sensitivity, cultural storytelling, and fast-track implementation. Located at the intersection of the national 4A Scenic Area “Meiyuan Garden” and Luodong Village, the project embraces the region’s ten-thousand-acre plum forest as its ecological foundation to create a refined, nature-immersed boutique resort.
The core design philosophy, “Plum Grove Retreat: Living with Nature,” reflects a triadic approach:
Locality: Architectural and interior expressions draw from Hakka cultural traditions—rammed-earth wall textures, bamboo weaving, and plum branch-inspired furnishings echo Luhe’s identity as the “Home of Green Plums.”
Ecology: An open spatial layout blurs boundaries between indoor and outdoor. Transparent bamboo blinds, native materials, and transitional zones bring nature “into” the architecture, fostering a seamless sensory connection.
Healing: Guided by forest therapy principles, the design enhances wellness through tactile natural fibers, wood-based aromas, and carefully orchestrated natural lighting to engage all five senses.
Functional areas reflect these values. The public zones feature thematic installations derived from the plum blossom’s lifecycle, using curvilinear wood-stone forms to evoke poetic imagery. Locally sourced bluestone and hand-textured rammed-earth finishes create an authentic material palette, while bamboo-woven furniture bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
To meet the challenge of rapid delivery—design to completion in under three months—the team employed digital twin technology and modular prefabrication. BIM modeling coordinated design and construction, while 78% of decorative components, including bamboo screens and rammed-earth panels, were prefabricated off-site for rapid on-site assembly.
Sustainability was central to the project’s material choices and systems: walls use eco-friendly Luhe rammed-earth blends, floors feature recycled bluestone, and FSC-certified wood is used throughout. Intelligent lighting and curtain systems are integrated within traditional finishes, offering energy efficiency without aesthetic compromise.
Green strategies include Low-E glazing for energy conservation, pre-installed solar infrastructure, rainwater collection for landscaping, and zero-deforestation construction practices to preserve the original plum forest.
The Hotel represents a new paradigm in rural hospitality—where cultural roots, design innovation, and environmental stewardship converge to enrich local life and set a new benchmark for countryside regeneration.
