The design fuses traditional Eastern cultural elements with contemporary spatial strategies to create a space that is both rational and expressive. Drawing inspiration from Xi’an’s rich heritage, the spatial composition begins with the use of rough natural stone and texture coatings on the walls and floors, establishing a grounded and earthy base. These tactile materials recall the ancient city wall’s texture, setting a foundation rooted in regional identity. Floor mosaics inspired by the patterns of the old city veins are juxtaposed against clean structural lines. Metal grilles suspended from the ceiling reinterpret traditional Chinese eaves in a modern language, while a sculptural relief wall evokes the texture of rammed earth, abstracting historical memory into a three-dimensional surface. Material selection emphasizes a balance between modernity and tradition: glass, metal, and translucent stone are layered with coarse textures, forming a dialogue between delicate transparency and solid roughness. This interplay creates a controlled visual conflict and generates artistic tension within the space. Bamboo, a symbolic material in Eastern aesthetics, is transformed into refined linear elements that outline spatial divisions. Custom metal grilles simulate the rhythm of a sparse bamboo forest, filtering daylight into shifting shadows and enhancing the sense of permeability. A suspended sculptural bamboo piece becomes a visual anchor, while the forms of bamboo leaves and joints are echoed across multiple elements—woven into the patterns of carpets, hollowed metal screens, and sculptural curves—bridging the figurative and abstract. Furniture and soft furnishings are designed around the concept of "raw jade." The surfaces display the subtle veins and matte sheen of unpolished jade, expressed through materials like lacquer, stone, and special-glaze finishes. Colors are restrained and warm, extending from upholstery to carpets, while lighting takes inspiration from jade discs, casting a soft, diffused glow across the space. Through the strategic use of symbolic forms, tactile materials, and abstract reinterpretation, the design achieves a seamless integration of cultural tradition and contemporary spatial logic. The result is a balanced and immersive environment where historical resonance is translated through modern design language.
