Amata Gardens, located along East Lake in Wuhan, Hubei Province, is a multifunctional landscape integrating leisure, social interaction, and ecological experience. Combining specialty coffee, creative cuisine, and cultural engagement, the project centers on “social media check-ins + local cultural promotion.” Through visually striking design and immersive dining, it has become a local landmark, attracting an average daily footfall of 50,000 and over 500,000 social media exposures.

The core philosophy, “A Nature-Infused Culinary Journey,” merges garden landscapes with dining spaces. Panoramic tables and thoughtfully planned circulation immerse guests in plants, light, and gentle breezes, offering natural healing alongside culinary pleasure. Local East Lake motifs create a cultural narrative, while the “light-touch intervention” principle preserves existing vegetation and terrain, fostering a harmonious relationship between architecture and nature—an environment where every view and flavor converge.

The garden features a white-dominant palette, using premium textured paint that reflects sunlight and contrasts with surrounding greenery. Semi-open outdoor spaces leverage lakeside views and open ceilings, blurring the line between indoors and outdoors. Former garage interiors now host two private rooms and a public area, with over ten floor-to-ceiling windows framing East Lake. Santorini-inspired arches and extended terraces enhance spatial depth and romance. A mature tree stretches from interior to sky, creating unique viewpoints, while a Tiffany-blue lakeside pool evokes Mediterranean leisure, doubling as a dining area.

For materials, Low-maintenance, edible plants like rosemary and mint integrate dining and landscape needs, supported by concealed mosquito lights and automated irrigation. Dual circulation separates “photo spots” from dining routes, maintaining comfort and order. Materials prioritize sustainability, locality, and storytelling—reclaimed timber becomes shared tables, solar-powered LED umbrellas provide shading and illumination, antimicrobial stone surfaces ensure hygiene, and modular décor allows seasonal updates.

Considering sustainability, rainwater is harvested for irrigation, kitchen scraps are composted, and locally sourced food reduces carbon footprint. Passive design, including shading trees and Low-E glass, lowers energy use, while collaborations with local horticultural studios engage guests in garden care, promoting environmental awareness.

Amata Gardens exemplifies the synergy of nature, culture, and social engagement, offering an iconic, immersive experience that delights both the senses and the spirit.
