Park Lane Complex, Jinan

The design draws inspiration from the metasequoia trees and verdant islands of Daming Lake, as well as the emerald waters of Baotu Spring in Jinan. Local elements are reinterpreted through a neo-naturalistic approach to create the thematic vision of a hidden mountain spring. The planting strategy emphasizes breakthroughs in the mid- and lower vegetation layers, exploring innovative applications for shrubs to establish a model for a blue-green, long-lasting flower border in northern China. By introducing new blue and gray-green coniferous groundcover varieties, the design shapes a tranquil, elegant, durable, and low-maintenance groundcover landscape—addressing the limited species diversity of groundcovers in northern winters and enriching the seasonal appeal of northern planting palettes.
