Here's a professional and polished translation of the text:
English Translation:
Since 2000, the Naxi ethnic villages around Lugu Lake have undergone rapid, unplanned expansion due to modernization, changing family structures, and tourism development, placing traditional cultural heritage at risk. Our goal is to reshape the village through spatial overlay while respecting the existing built environment, thereby preserving cultural continuity. The specific strategies are:
1. Sorting and Protecting the Fabric: To address the degradation of the organic spatial fabric, disordered internal circulation, and the village's bisection by a transit road, we propose three overarching strategies: zoning by classification, creating a connecting loop, and spatial suture.
2. Extracting and Integrating Vernacular Elements: By analyzing historical satellite imagery, we identified historic courtyard dwellings with significant cultural value. We studied their form, color, and scale, then applied these elements to the renovation of recent reinforced concrete structures. This harmonizes the village's overall appearance.
3. Preserving and Reviving Living Scenes: For the Dazu Ancient Village section in the south, we adopted a low-intervention approach to maintain authenticity. Selected abandoned and collapsed Muleng wood houses were restored and repurposed with functions like craft workshops, local product markets, and a living heritage exhibition hall. This aims to preserve and showcase traditional productive and living scenes.
4. Establishing and Anchoring Intangible Heritage: Dazu Village possesses rich oral traditions and stories – intangible cultural heritage (ICH) facing decline. We documented and organized this heritage, integrating it with new functional spaces to create thematic nodes based on legends, alongside performance spaces for traditional customs. This anchors the ICH firmly within its cultural landscape.
