Drawing inspiration from the classic lantern shape and the ancient wisdom of the traditional Chinese twelve-hour time system, the calendar employs a central rotating mechanism to switch dates. By replacing the impersonal refresh of a digital display with the physical act of turning a dial, the design brings back a poetic, hands-on ritual to experiencing the flow of time. The hollow metal frame not only recalls the skeletal structure of a lantern but also doubles as a time scale. Paired with the top handle, it vividly revives the classical scene of “walking with a lantern”, transforming the desk calendar from a static ornament into a portable timepiece that seamlessly blends aesthetics, emotion, and function.
The design adopts “dawn red” as its main tone—echoing the glow of sunrise. It conveys a philosophy of time while evoking a refined sense of new Chinese luxury. The metal frame, paired with the black lantern top and base, lends the piece a touch of opulence reminiscent of imperial grandeur. Adding to this dialogue of contrasts, the beech-wood dial softens the cool precision of the zinc-alloy body, introducing a natural grain and warm feel.
