Situated at the northern core of Chongqing North Station, this hotel occupies a prime urban transport hub, seamlessly connecting multiple metro lines and major city arteries. Its strategic location ensures unmatched accessibility and high pedestrian flow, establishing the hotel as both a gateway to the city and a cultural landmark. Designed to cater to business and leisure travelers alike, the project reflects a unique brand identity deeply rooted in local heritage while projecting a contemporary, artistic urban presence.
The guiding philosophy, “City of Mountains and Rivers – Ancient Bayu Charm”, explores a deliberate dialogue between Western classical aesthetics and modern minimalist design. Rather than adhering to a single stylistic narrative, the hotel interprets the interplay of tradition and contemporaneity through materials, spatial organization, and functional expression. Meticulous woodwork, sculptural detailing, and refined finishes coexist with exposed, simple surfaces such as washed stone and minimalist walls, creating a subtle yet dynamic aesthetic tension. The core idea is to move forward with the times without erasing the past—a spatial narrative that respects history while embracing modernity.
Key areas translate this concept into immersive experiences. The lobby evokes “Mountain City Impressions” with layered ceiling topographies and gradient metallic screens inspired by the city’s mist. The reception features art-glass backlit screens simulating nocturnal cityscapes, while the lobby bar becomes a visual centerpiece, employing arches and metal finishes to enhance tension and focus. Banquet spaces balance symmetry and functionality, integrating perforated metal panels for acoustic performance, with ceiling lighting inspired by Chongqing’s iconic mountains and waters. Guest rooms and suites reference local natural landmarks, such as the Three Gorges, translating the flow and vitality of water into
Materiality emphasizes dialogue—polished woodwork interacts with raw stone and minimalist surfaces to create layered aesthetic richness. Sustainable design is integrated through high-efficiency lighting, intelligent climate control, natural ventilation, and responsibly sourced materials, ensuring long-term durability without compromising comfort.
By combining contextual authenticity, refined materiality, and innovative spatial narratives, the project establishes a distinctive hotel experience that bridges past and present, creating a dynamic urban landmark in Chongqing.
