Twilight Serenity

The residence in Tamsui was designed for two homeowners and their cat, who envisioned a space that could accommodate daily life, collectibles, and future pets. The design concept originated from the couple’s contrasting preferences: the host favored clean brightness, while the hostess loved the depth of black tones. The designer resolved this difference by balancing black and gray, creating a mood poised between cool restraint and gentle warmth. The resulting ambience resembles the glow of sunset—hence the name Twilight Serenity. At the moment of completion, when the lights illuminated the interiors, the atmosphere revealed a quiet yet profound charm.
The most distinctive feature is the collectible display wall, crafted from frameless glass that allows transparency from the front, back, and sides, creating nearly 360-degree viewing angles. This transforms the owner’s cherished figurines into not only a display but also part of everyday life. Beside the display wall, a concealed litter box and cat climbing platform were discreetly integrated, ensuring the cat’s movement and behavior were seamlessly included in the design.
Another highlight is the study’s curved glass partition. Overcoming challenges of cutting and alignment, the curved design softens transitions between spaces. Entryways and other corners are also finished with curved detailing to eliminate sharp angles. The interplay of clean straight lines with gentle curves echoes the couple’s newlywed life. Lighting design was carefully layered: with only the display wall and pendant lights switched on, the host enjoys a bar-like atmosphere; when hosting elders, illumination can shift to brighter levels, flexibly adapting to different scenarios.
