OPUS ONE is located in the core area of Bai'e Tan, the confluence of three rivers and the birthplace of Guangzhou, a site steeped in the history of the Maritime Silk Road and rich in the city's collective memory. The core challenge and opportunity of this landscape design lies in how to respond to the unique, multi-layered spatial structure of the site—with both elevated and subterranean levels—and maximize its potential for river views and historical context, creating a truly symbiotic living environment that transcends conventional residential development. The design concept, "A Natural Harbor, Seamless Coexistence," unfolds a multi-layered spatial narrative. First, we focus on blurring physical and visual boundaries. By translating the natural flow of the Pearl River into design language, we connect various functional spaces with flowing, curvilinear forms. On the elevated level, an infinity pool and viewing platform seamlessly integrate the building with the river; on the lower level, carefully designed transitional gardens allow the community landscape to seamlessly blend into the urban environment, creating a harmonious visual connection. Second, the design emphasizes the contemporary interpretation and emotional resonance of the historical context. We delve deeply into local memories, creatively recreating the cascading waterfall motif of the Baiwanhua Hotel in the central water courtyard, not only alleviating any sense of enclosure, but also evoking shared memories through the water feature, transforming the site's history into a tangible emotional space. Finally, through meticulous planning of the vertical circulation path, we achieve a perfect synchronization of spatial sequence and emotional experience. From the public urban space, through the tranquil lower-level gardens, to the expansive river views above, this journey naturally transitions from public to private, guiding residents' emotional journey and deepening their understanding of a high-end lifestyle. This project aims to demonstrate, through its "customized, not replicated" design philosophy, that landscape design is not merely about beautifying the environment, but also a crucial link connecting past and future, harmonizing nature and urban life.
