A Whisper of Time

This project is a four-story detached residence set within a rural landscape, conceived as a retirement home that carries the shared memories and emotional connections of three generations. Guided by the concept of continuity, the design explores how time, space, and daily life gradually shape a meaningful living environment.
Inspired by a treasured piece of petrified wood, the project interprets the beauty of temporal sedimentation through spatial expression. Formed by natural forces over time, the artifact becomes a metaphor for endurance and transformation, translated through layered materials, tactile textures, and the subtle interplay of light and shadow.
The original spatial framework is redefined to soften boundaries and enhance fluidity. Curved forms connect individual zones, fostering visual continuity and a calm rhythm throughout the public areas. Natural materials and shifting daylight create a tranquil atmosphere, allowing time to be gently perceived. Each transition and moment of pause reflects the quiet accumulation of lived experience, uniting nature, art, and memory into an enduring residential narrative.
