Located in the Foshan Greenland Center, Jihua Road Headquarters Economic Belt, this project redefines the service center model by creating a space that is as aesthetically compelling as it is socially vibrant, all while honoring its cultural context.
The design narrative is deeply rooted in the local heritage, drawing inspiration from Lingnan's traditional pot-eared houses. Elements like distinctive window lattices and eaves are abstracted and reinterpreted with a modern sensibility, establishing a resonant dialogue between the historical and the contemporary. This philosophy unfolds dynamically across the interior. The entrance welcomes visitors with softly curving forms that break from rigid linearity, creating an intuitive and elegant flow. Within the certificate hall, a large-scale relief mural inspired by the Foshan waterway system acts as a powerful cultural anchor and visual focal point. Further enhancing the journey, the staircase wall features a vibrant reinterpretation of the classic "Manchu window," injecting the characteristic warmth and energy of Lingnan culture into the vertical circulation space.
Beyond its aesthetic achievements, the project stands as a testament to sustainable and innovative construction. A key challenge was the complex existing pipeline network from the original structure, which constrained ceiling heights. This was ingeniously resolved through custom multi-tiered ceiling designs that harmoniously integrated with the walls. Material selection further underscores this commitment. Large-format stone slabs with seamless joints create a continuous visual expanse, while the pioneering use of foamed ceramic marks a significant green milestone. This remarkable material, composed of 80% construction waste, is showcased in large artistic reliefs. Combining a 50-year, maintenance-free lifecycle with the practicality of on-site cutting to minimize waste, the foamed ceramic not only tells a story of local culture but also firmly anchors the project in the principles of sustainable development.
