After reorganizing the traffic flow and layout, this 24-ping renovated home opens up new pathways for light to flow freely, naturally extending the sense of visual depth. The design blends the warmth of Scandinavian style with clean modern aesthetics. Light wood tones and gray hues provide a stable foundation to build upon. Soft curves and strip lights intertwine, giving the space a gentle, layered softness within its rational structural framework.
The public areas adopt an open-plan layout that links the living room and dining room. It is a design approach that removes internal partitions to encourage uninterrupted flow between spaces. The TV wall, originally constrained in size, is now relocated to the center of the space and fitted with a rotating mount. Designed to swivel, tilt, and articulate, the TV mount allows residents to adjust the TV to the ideal angle for optimal viewing from any spot in the room. On the TV wall, the hand-applied plaster finishes bring rustic warmth and gently soften the room. The kitchen is separated by a sliding glass door that acts as a flexible boundary. The transparent glass dissolves visual barriers and encourages light to move deeper into the space. Keep it open to have the open-concept feel, or close it off to contain cooking smells. The space beneath the stairs is transformed into a hidden storage area, with a door that blends seamlessly into the wall, maintaining a clean and orderly look.
The main design challenge is the low beam above the TV wall. If enclosed in a conventional manner, it would introduce a strong sense of visual weight and spatial compression. Instead, gentle curves transform the beam into a light and dynamic element, softening its structural edges, while strip lights redefine its visual proportions. A warm amber-toned light on one side further introduces a gentle glow. Light not only illuminates physical objects. It shapes volumes, reveals textures, and transforms the ordinary into extraordinary.
