The Jianglai Boundless Art Hot Spring Hotel is conceived under the central philosophy of eclecticism, aiming to create a spatial experience that blends cultures, eras, and artistic expressions into a cohesive and memorable environment. Rather than adhering to a single stylistic doctrine, the design embraces a multidimensional dialogue between local heritage, Eastern and Western aesthetics, traditional craftsmanship, and contemporary spatial language, giving each room a distinctive visual identity and emotional narrative.
A key feature of the project lies in the reinterpretation of traditional cultural elements through modern design language. Iconic Eastern motifs—such as blue-and-white porcelain patterns, intangible heritage wood carvings from Nanchang, traditional Wudian roof structures, coffered “well-pattern” ceilings, and classic scroll motifs—are not merely reproduced as decorative symbols. Instead, they are carefully deconstructed and translated into contemporary forms. For example, the traditional Wudian roof structure is reimagined as a sculptural ceiling composition, while the geometric rhythm of the well-pattern ceiling is abstracted into modern spatial matrices. Similarly, the fluid patterns of blue-and-white porcelain are transformed into dynamic lines that evoke the movement of water, allowing traditional culture to evolve into a modern artistic language.
The project distinguishes itself through a “new eclecticism” philosophy that goes beyond simple stylistic mixing. Seemingly contrasting elements—traditional Chinese architectural structures, regional intangible heritage craftsmanship, Western classical columns, minimalist modern furniture, and exotic decorative elements—are carefully orchestrated through controlled proportions, color harmony, and material balance. This poetic juxtaposition creates spaces that feel both harmonious and visually stimulating, offering layered discoveries for visitors.
Material selection plays a vital role in shaping the emotional narrative of the hotel. Each material is chosen not only for functionality but also for its sensory and symbolic value. For instance, an acrylic pool façade creates an immersive and dreamlike spatial experience, while custom pink burl wood finishes introduce warmth and subtle playfulness within a naturally textured surface. Meanwhile, black wood-grain flooring anchors the visual composition and provides a sense of stability throughout the interior.
More than a place to stay, the design aims to transform the hotel into a curated experiential journey.
